Laurie Lynn (Lyon) Ellis
Laurie Lynn Lyon was born Aug. 4, 1959. She married Eric Ellis on March 26, 1983, in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii, while she served in the U.S. Navy.
Laurie Ellis died unexpectedly Friday, Oct. 2, 2009, at her home in New Port News VA. She graduated from D.C. Everest High School in 1978. Laurie was a former employee of Spiegel Brands Inc. for many years after giving a portion of her life to serve in the Navy.
She lived for her two wonderful children whom she gave unwavering love and support. Laurie enjoyed her yard and flowers, and loved to sit by the water reading a book. She is survived by her husband, Eric Ellis, Newport News, Va.; two children, Christopher James, a member of the Buffalo Bills NFL football team, New York, and Ericka Nicole, a college student working toward a degree in photography; her mother, Ruth (Koepp) Lyon of Weston; one brother, Lance (Lori) Lyon, Wausau; three sisters, Linda (fiance, Todd Nest) Beck, Wausau, Lou Ann (Steve) Gille, Rothschild, and Lisa Hoekstra, Weston; and her mother-in-law, Sarah Ellis of Smithfield, Va. She also leaves behind a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends whom she loved dearly.
She was preceded in death by her father, Don Lyon, on Feb. 4, 2009; and grandmother, Laura Koepp, on Sept. 21, 2008. A memorial service will be at noon Friday, Oct. 9, 2009, at Cooke Bros. Funeral Chapel, 1601 27th St., Newport News VA.
